Media Release

Chief and Council are pleased to announce a joint venture with GrowForce Holdings Inc. to bring cannabis production and retail to Rama First Nation.  The first major project for the joint venture will be the development of a large-scale cannabis production facility in Rama which will create at least 100 permanent jobs for our community and the surrounding region.   Coinciding with the legalization of cannabis for recreational use in Canada, Rama First Nation is on the ground floor of a dynamic business with an industry leader known for safe cannabis product management practices.

GrowForce facilities are operated by the MJardin Group, a highly experienced cannabis management company.  This venture includes a regulated retail operation run by Rama First Nation.  There are no plans for retail licensing for independent retail locations in the community

Rama Solar

Rama has installed solar panels on 14 Rama-owned residential homes on Grandmother Road and 4 Rama-owned buildings including RCM, RFN Warehouse, Band Office and Old Daycare Facility. We signed 20 year energy supply agreements with the Province of Ontario in 2015 whereby RFN would get paid for the green energy we delivered back to the province. We typically generate close to 500,000 kilowatt hours of energy per year. After 20 years we can then convert this energy to help run our homes and buildings.

NEWLOGO150x150.png

'My Lucky Spot' gaming has been owned by Rama First Nation since 2013 in partnership with Paul Micucci and Tony Perugini who also serve with Rama as Directors.

My Lucky Spot has two locations, one in Mississauga operating under the name Rama Gaming and another Location on Kennedy Road operated under the name Kennedy Bingo.

The Mississauga location has been operating as a Gaming Centre, since October 2013. It offers 55 gaming machines, seating for 300, a player reward system, food and entertainment.  The cash flow from this business has improved year over year, since opening.

The Kennedy location has been waiting for OLG (Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation) licensing to become a Gaming Centre for roughly 3 years. So at this time, this location only offers Bingo and seating for 400.
